Job Description
Our client based in the Heywood area requires several Operational Assistants to work in their manufacturing operation. The contract will commence at the End of August 2010 and run right through to the end of December.

The work will involve supporting machine operators in the production of personalised products using bespoke modern manufacturing equipment.
 
The hours of work will be: - 08:00 to 16:00 Monday to Friday although flexibilty will be needed depending on the needs of the business.

The key activities of the role are: - 

1.       Assist Operational staff in ensuring required materials are supplied to machinery prior to operation of equipment.

2.       Assist operational staff in setting up and running of all manufacturing equipment.

3.       Manage movement of products and materials between processes to ensure continuous operation of equipment.

4.       Carry out continuous monitoring and visual inspection of products and materials throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring variances are identified and reported accordingly.

5.       Adhere to all manufacturing processes according to set quality and operating procedures, and update all quality records according to ISO 9001 system

6.       Perform the daily machine cleaning and safety tasks.

7.       Work safely, adhering to safety rules and procedures, using safety equipment when necessary

8.       Work within the security procedures developed - right from base stock requisition to delivery of product. This includes the use of computer based tracking systems.
 
9.       Comply with ISO 14001, ISO 18001 and health and safety standard including 6 Sigma Participate in conducting of environmental and safety incidents in the team that affect self or as directed by the supervisor

Qualifications

·         Computer skills – Microsoft Office an advantage

·         Numeracy and literacy skills

·         At least 3 years experience in a manufacturing firm

·         Experience of running small machinery preferable.

·         Experience of book binding or mail room preferable
